Project Matthew’s purpose is to respond to the needs of high risk mothers including, pregnant inmates, and minister to them and their children and families.

Project Matthew’s belief is that by providing faith based childbirth/parenting education and support, positive impacts in the lives of incarcerated and other high-risk mothers and their children can be realized in the following ways:  To help high-risk mothers better understand their role as a parent To reduce the incidence of child abuse and neglect To promote bonding and attachment To help preserve and strengthen family ties To reinforce feelings of self-worth in the mother To strengthen the bonds with all their children To impact and reduce domestic and family violence in these families To prevent recidivism and promote successful reentry back into community
