Project Matthew's purpose is to respond to the needs of high risk mothers including, pregnant inmates, and minister to them and their children and families. Project Matthew's belief is that by providing
faith based childbirth/parenting education and support, positive
impacts in the lives of incarcerated and other high-risk mothers
and their children can be realized in the following ways: |

high-risk mothers better understand their role as a parent • To reduce the incidence of child abuse and neglect • To promote bonding and attachment • To help preserve and strengthen family ties • To reinforce feelings of self-worth in the mother • To strengthen the bonds with all their children • To impact and reduce domestic and family violence in these families • To prevent recidivism and promote successful reentry back into community |
